Christmasy Things!

Ahh! I love Christmas in McCall. This year was a bit of a celebratory year in all our hearts as it was the first year to make it to McCall for Christmas. Celebratory, yet sorrowful when we think about our first attempt to come to this snowy bliss two years ago, and what who we were missing as a result. 2005 was when Grandma Johnson fell, resulting in very serious injuries. I miss her dearly, and definitely missed her jolly laugh, competitive game playing, and gleeful red nose peaking out from the otherwise bundled Grams standing in the snow.

The cabin was beautiful. There was close to three feet of snow up there. It still clung to the tree branches, so the whole place looked like a picture of a wintery wonderland (which it pretty much was). We sledded, once we successfully but painstakingly blazed our trail through the snow to the top of the sled hill and from the bottom up. And we snow-mobiled...back up to the top of the sledding hill. :-) Some enjoyed the hottub late at night or early morning, while others of us competitively enjoyed tennis, bowling, and golf on the Nintendo Wii. We watched movies and discovered the excitement of playing "Settlers of Catan". Oh, and we ate...boy did we eat. Our tradition of the Seafood Feast (capitalized because its such a grand tradition) lived up to its name, with Chad and I (mostly Chad) to thank for the tastey scallops. Mmmm!

It was a short trip for us, but well worth it. Back to work on Thursday, back into the grind. But Christmas was great, especially when we remember the true meaning of Christmas, God's gift of His Son Jesus--the best Christmas gift of all time.
