Tribute to Tori

On Tuesday September 30, 2008 we lost our beloved pup. Last day of dove hunting. Gramps. Dad, Adam, Chad and Tori were out at my parents house doing some shooting. Afterwards, we all had dinner, except my Gramps who had already eaten. As Grandpa left, Tori apparently ran after him, following him a ways down Overland Rd. When she didn't answer Chad's call, he went looking for her, only to find that she had been hit by a car. We are both very sad that she is gone. Chad lost his buddy. We both find it hard to believe she died, and both find ourselves thinking we hear her around the house. It's definitely more quiet around here without her. She really was an amazing dog. She was so smart. Chad had taught her many tricks by rewarding her with bones. She got to the point where he would grab a bone and say "do some tricks for me", and off she would go, doing every trick in the book that she knew, rolling over, spinning, sitting up, jumping, standing...and she'd do them again just for good measure. When she got her reward, she'd run off to her bed to enjoy it (every time). :-) Chad was looking forward to hunting with her this fall; she was just beginning to really get it down. She loved the water and was never afraid of a gun. She LOVED hunting. There's been a few times where Chad would find her sitting in front of his gun case whining because she wanted to go hunt. There was even a time when she brought Chad's camo pants to him. As much as I gave her a hard time myself, I loved her too. She just had the cutest personality, and was such a beautiful dog. We had planned to breed her next summer to get some little puppy chocolates. With all our memories, she will be missed.

Oh I am so so sorry. That is the saddest news. Dogs totally become a part of your family and I can't imagine what it's like to say goodbye so suddenly. We are thinking of you both and praying.

I am so sorry you guys. It's amazing how attached we get to our pets even when they frustrate us so. We are keeping you in our prayers.

We're very sad! Cole saw a picture of a dog the other day and said it was Tori. I told him Tori went to heaven and he looked really sad (if not a bit confused). We'll all miss her!
