This week we started Troy is lessons through Infant Swimming Resource (ISR). The basis of the program is teaching kids how to survive if they should happen to fall into the water. The lessons can start when the baby is 6 months old, and until they turn a year, they are taught to float on their backs; to roll over on to their backs and float for as long as possible, giving parents more time to find their little one should the worst occur. After the baby has mastered this skill, they then teach them the sequence of swim-float-swim, floating on their backs in between swimming to catch their breath and rest, then swimming again until they can find an edge to grab onto or a way out. Troy started lessons Monday and has done amazing all week. The teacher has been very impressed with how well he has done, and has already worked with him on placing him face down in the water, when which he quickly rolls to his back to float. I am anxious to see how he does in the next couple weeks, and we are very proud of our little guy.

How fun is that - I saw a video on the internet of a baby doing that and it scared me half to death. It is a good idea though. Where does he do the swimming lessons at?
