Month of McCall

We spent the first three weekends of August at my parent's cabin in McCall. We love it up there, so it was a great way to spend August. The first weekend was a retreat for our Bible study group. We have done annual retreats every winter, but thought it would be great to do a summer retreat. We had lots of fun, (but missed the Laynes, who had recently moved to Filer, Idaho and were expecting their second baby the following week.) We had enough 4-wheelers to take a trip up the No Business Lookout up above West Mountain Rd. It's a fun drive, and takes about an hour to get up. Whoever is manning the station usually loves company, so we got to go in and check out all the fire mapping.

The next weekend was for the Annual Bunn Family LMV meeting. We usually have packed cabins and enjoy the weekend of good food, fun company, doing whatever we want and being as lazy or active as we want, and, of course, door prizes. We love the door prizes, which is fun, but usually madly chaotic!
Our third and last weekend at the cabin was with the McAfee family. Chad took Friday night off and we went up Friday evening, joined by his mom and Mark, Nicki, Lucus and Sydney, and Brooke and Kip. We all had a great time (thanks Mom and Dad). Again, we had tons of ATVs to ride so mostly everyone got their own. I joined my sisters-in-law in some canoeing and fishing on the pond (which produced nothing but weeds). It was fun, though. I found myself having to remember how to cast a bait line. I haven't done anything but fly-fishing for the last several years (and not much of that, either). We spent most of Saturday in town, having burgers at My Father's Place, the best burger joint in McCall, then Ice Cream Alley (the best ice cream), then chilled down by the lake. There were TONS of people out and about, and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Gearing up for a 4-wheel ride with the crew.

Cute picture of Troy and Syd, stretching their legs.
After spending every weekend out of town, when the last weekend of August came, we were so ready to spend it at home, relaxing and NOT packing or unpacking for the weekend. :-) However, we are very thankful for a place like that to go and get away nearly whenever we can and want. Troy still is always saying "go up cabin?" In a while, Bud.

You lucky bum! I have told Christian several times about your parents' cabin--take pictures and post them. It sounds like a dream. Perhaps one day we can all get together and do something fun like this--wouldn't that be great?? It'd be so nice for all of us college friends to do a girls weekend or something. Lord knows I need it! :)

That looks like so much fun - but I'm just wondering why you didn't take us! Ice Cream Alley is one of my favorite ice cream places up there too, mmmm....

Glad we were missed at the cabin. We wished we could have been there. Hopefully we get to attend the winter retreat.

Good to get an update on your little family. Cooper looks so cute with his buzz.
